What is Trauma & Resilience Coaching?

What to Expect

  • Coaching sessions are held virtually on Zoom.
  • My job is to be a safe place for you to share, learn and grow.
  • Your job is to show up willing to give yourself grace as we work together for your benefit.

Some goals of trauma coaching are:

  1. Help you discover your own capacities that you have developed and how to use them to face upcoming challenges
  2. Help you discover your inner truths that are often hidden behind trauma
  3. Share some insight as to what happens to our bodies and nervous systems when we experience trauma
  4. Share insight as to what resilience looks like and what it does not look like
  5. Help you develop tools to use to reduce anxiety, depression, fears, angry outbursts, etc.
  6. Help you discover what motivates you and what does not.

Working through trauma can be a slow process. There are many factors that affect our progress. Everyone moves at their own pace in setting the foundation necessary to be able to move forward. We will discuss the tools necessary to begin to get to that place. Your daily implementation of those tools is going to help you prepare the ground to plant the seeds that lead towards a path of resilience. I suggest a minimum commitment of 3 months to be able to establish some new patterns of self-care and self-regulation which are essential to progression.

What not to Expect

I will not ask you to retell the trauma story. It isn’t necessary to move forward. If you need to be heard, I am absolutely here to listen; however, we won’t stay there long because growth can only take place in the executive functioning brain and the trauma story resides in the amygdala part of the brain. I don’t bond with clients over pain and trauma because my job is to help you move out of it.

How to prepare for the first visit

The 30-minute free consultation or “chemistry call” is a chance for both of us to see if we are a good fit for each other. If I am not a good fit for you, please keep looking until you find the right coach that can serve you better. Honesty on both our parts is necessary to serve you best.

Spend a little time thinking about what your values are. What’s important to you?

Spend time thinking about what you would like the 1st session to look like.

I recommend 1 of 2 options:

  1. Path 1
    • a. You can share your goals for coaching.
    • b. I can share some psychoeducation and insight about trauma.
    • c. I’ll ask some questions to discover your motivation style so that I can meet your where you are and know the best way to encourage you.
  2. Path 2
    • You can share your goals for coaching.
    • I can share some psychoeducation and insight about trauma.
    • We can discuss some self-care tools to start caring for your body, mind and soul.

New Client Information

Things to know before your first visit Does Insurance Cover Trauma and Resilience Coaching?

Since health insurance only covers procedures that are medically necessary, health insurance doesn’t cover sessions with a life coach under any circumstances, because 1) unless they are therapists, coaches are not qualified to diagnose or treat mental health conditions and 2) coaching is different from psychotherapy, and never intended to treat a psychiatric diagnosis.  But even though life coaching is not medically necessary, it’s still incredibly valuable to do this work.

Health insurance doesn’t pay for most things worth investing in, like your education, your yoga class, or your vacation to spend quality time with your family. All things that are valuable and worth doing anyway.
Great coaching is the same. It’s an investment in your life. Trauma and Resilience coaching is priceless, and… getting your own coach can be a lot more affordable than you might think.
